18 years later, are we better off?

Carolyn Wade became President of Local 1040 in 1992.  Below is a table showing what we had when she took office, and what we’ve lost since she has been in.  Can we really take 3 more years of her contract givebacks??

This included the Traditional Plan,  NJ Plus and numerous HMO’s

1% of salary but not less than $20 per pay for Traditional if salary is less than $50K or difference between cost of Traditional and the average of the HMO’s and NJ Plus if salary is more than $50K

Traditional Plan and  NJ Plus replaced with NJ Direct.  Two HMO’s offered.  All Plans require 1.5% of salary premium sharing.  In-network Dr. Co-pays increased from $10 to $15, Emergency Room co-pay increased from $25 to $50

PENSION

3% Contribution Plus State Match.  Loans @ 4% w/ 10yr. repayment

3% Contribution and State failed to match.

Pension contribution increased to 5.5%.  Loans 4.69% plus $8 fee w/ 5yr or less repay.  2-tiered PERS/401K started.

PRESCRIPTION

$5 for  90-day supply brand or generic

$3 for 30 day supply of brand name at retail outlet and $1 for generic

WAGES

1st 15 Months Wage Freeze, then 5% and 6%

TWO (2)  year wage freeze then lump sum $840 and $420 6 months apart (2% & 1% of $42,000 average CWA salary).  Then $840 & $525 6 months apart (2% & 1.25% of same average salary)

1st 4 year contract ever!

CWA becomes the FIRST UNION to allow mgt. To use performance ratings as a justified reason  to exclude someone from layoff!

1st year wage freeze then 2nd year-2.9%,3rd year-2% & 2% (effective net total 3%), 4th year- 2.25% & 2.35% (effective net total 3.425%)

1st year- 3%, but actually resulted in a net loss of .5% - 1% due to health care and pension contribution increases and the leap year adjustment to paychecks, 2nd year-3%, 3rd year- 3.5%, 4th year- 3.5%
